1 package dried black eyed peas
6 cup broth
1 medium onion
2 tablespoon crushed garlic
1 teaspoon salt / ½ teaspoon pepper to taste
1 teaspoon sugar
2 cups ham or cooked bacon
1 Jalapeno pepper
Sort and wash the black eyed peas and then put them into a Dutch Oven.
Add all of the other ingredients, bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat.
Simmer 1 to 1 1 hours, until the peas are tender.
